Myths and Legends of the Philippines - Marlene Aguilar-Pollard, 2000. This book is amazing! If there is a Tatak Pilipino near you, they will most definitely carry copies of this book (I've been to the San Francisco and Los Angeles store, and both had them in their inventory.) If there is a child in the family, I highly recommend this text because it's one of the best renderings of our old stories.

Explorations in Philippine Folklore - Herminia Menez, 1996. For those involved with Filipino American studies, this book serves as an excellent conduit between the psychology of present-day Filipinos and our folktales and beliefs. |

The Creatures of Philippine Lower Mythology - Maximo D. Ramos, 1990. By far the most comprehensive list of the various spirits and creatures. The creatures in my Antig piece were extracted from this book. |

Barangay, Sixteenth Century Philippine Culture and Society - William Henry Scott, 1994. Another book I highly recommend from Tatak. Pre-colonized history is where it's at. |

Philippine Myths and Legends (Values - Oriented) - Guadencio V. Aquino, 1992. A book straight from the Philippines (thanks Margie!) |

More Tales From the Barrio - Tomas P. Boquiren, 1999. Another book straight from the P.I. (thanks Shea!) |
